Positive Behaviour for Learning

What is PBL?

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is a system of behaviour management that is used in schools all across the world.

So how does PBL work?

  • Rules and expectations for behaviour are very clearly set out for each area of the school and will be very visible, in the form of signs and symbols in classrooms and out in the grounds.
  • It requires staff members to be consistent, meaning that processes for managing students who break school rules should be the same right across the school
  • The school-wide rules and expectations will actually be taught in the classroom so that all students are aware of the rules across all areas of the school and that they understand what these rules actually mean.
  • The school rules at Beenleigh State High School are based on the values in our school motto – We Care, We are Responsible, We Achieve
  • A PBL Reward System is put in place where students receive points for when they are seen to by complying with the school rules and expectations.
