Girls Titans League Challenge

U14 Team
On Friday 2nd May, 27 female students attended the Titans School Girl League Competition held at Merrimac SHS on the Gold Coast. Threatening storms did not stop the competition going ahead. The under-14 development team made up of majority year 8’s were very eager to attend their first official competition. Students played outstandingly in their two very close matches. All the girls learnt new skills and rules from the ‘safeplay’ code on the day. The under-16 girls were entered as a Barbarian side with Beenleigh SHS making majority of the side. These girls were awarded the Runner’s Up plaque after a very closely contested grand final against Trinity College. The Open’s division girls were also entered as a Barbarian side made up of several other girls from other schools. The played some brilliant games also, unfortunately not finishing on top.
The highlight of the day was five U-14 girls being selected for the Gold Coast Vikings team who competed the next day in Brisbane against other areas in QLD. These girls were Britney Green, Rachel Pouanga, Suelyn Moreira, Divine Bikorimana and India Royal.
The girls will continue their weekly trainings ready to compete in the next tournament. Ms Jolly would like to thank Mike Mato and Chris Carberry for assisting with transport and coaching on the day.
