Foodies get fabulous!

The year 9 Food and Fashion class completed their cooking assessment in week 8. Students had to plan and create a healthy meal and drink utilising the “Australian Guide to Healthy Eating” information.
It was fantastic to see students creating meals incorporating all of the 5 food groups: grains, dairy, protein, vegetables and protein. Examples produced included Japanese Onigiri, baked chicken and vegetables, rice noodle chicken stir fry and green smoothies.
Students have been learning about the benefits of starting the day with a balanced breakfast and the importance that this has on their learning. Hygiene and safety in the kitchen has also been at the core of their learning.
